From the Manufacturer
The BDP-80 is a full-featured universal Blu-ray Disc player that supports BD Profile 2.0 (BD-Live and BonusView), DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD (SACD), HDCD, CD and other popular media formats such as AVCHD, MKV video files, digital photos and music. Sharing the same decoder and similarly optimized firmware as OPPO’s award-winning BDP-83, the BDP-80 features fast disc load times, quick response to user operations, and robust audio and video controls. In contrast to the BDP-83, which utilizes an onboard VRS by Anchor Bay video processor, the BDP-80 design has been optimized for use as a digital audio/video transport, emphasizing the accuracy of its digital audio/video outputs. At the same time, the BDP-80 is versatile enough to be used as a stand-alone universal Blu-ray player, thanks to its full array of output connections and audio/video decoding capabilities.

Delivers what it promises!
Really easy to use, the machine is just a silent genius of Blu-Ray players. The region free option for Blu-rays and dvd’s is phenomenal for movie lovers. Now I can watch every little rare gem of film there is! There was no difficulties getting started with the player, the user manual is handy enough. I live in Finland, so the power cable plug in is different, we also have different electricity standards. I just disgarded the US power cable (125V) and used an old (european) PC power cable (250V). And because this great machine is 100V-240V, 50/60Hz, it really works all around the world. But still, make sure you know what you do, before you plug in. A wrong set of power cables and adapters might damage your machine.

I bought this player with some worries, since living abroad is very difficult to return or change any equipment that might not work as expected. Luckily the order came through right as indicated and the equipment works beautifully. I tried it so far with Dvd region 1, 4, 2 and 9, usb DIVX, jpeg photos, music cds, mp3 and sacd, zone A blu rays and it has played everithing without a glitch. My previous player was a Sony and I’m amazed at the diference in speed of reaction (the sony took forever to start playing). Having lived in a couple of countries and traveled frequently both to US and Europe my colllection required a fully open player, and this has been a great solution.
